I opted to replace the battery as well as my 30pin cord since the in home charging was the source of the failure.
The tech advised that overcharging can kill my battery so I downloaded this app because of the alarm feature. I have the free version currently, because I wanted to make sure it would do what I needed in a way I could understand. My only complaint is that my phone seems to indicate full charge for several minutes before the alarm sounds. I'm not sure if I need to turn down the slider or if my preloaded battery indicator isn't calibrated properly. Will continue to monitor.
